Project New Hope - October 2006 to October 2007
Project New Hope was a fund-raising effort to raise money to build two schools for orphaned children in Swaziland, Africa. The New Hope Centre is home to many children who have been left homeless due to the death of family members, mainly from AIDS.
Locally, Pelham Community Church (Fenwick, ON) raised $162,000 to build and equip two schools. These facilities will provide learning classrooms for the children at the orphanage, as well as neighbouring children. It will also free up two rooms in the home so that many additional children may be taken in for care.
Three groups of people (32 in total) traveled to Swaziland, Africa for two week mission trips in June, July and August 2007 to assist with the building of the schools. These mission trips were also co-ordinated by Pelham Community Church.
