The Honourable Richard Kroft, C.M.
A lawyer by training, an entrepreneur and business executive, community leader and retired member of the Senate of Canada, Richard built a successful international company before being appointed to the Senate in 1998. In the Senate he served as Chair of the Committee on Internal Economy, and as Chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce. He has served on a number of national boards, including the Business Development Bank, the National Museums Corporation and Canadian National Railway Company. At CN Richard served as Chair of the CN Investment Committee, which oversees the CN Pension Fund. He is currently Chairman of Controlled Environments Limited (Conviron), a company he founded in 1964. He is a member of the Manitoba Manufacturers’ Hall of Fame. Richard is a Member of the Order of Canada.
